The members of MADRAC (Malaysian Adverse Drug Reactions Advisory Committee) are selected based on their qualifications and expertise with regard to their respective fields of practice. They serve on the Committee for a renewable period of three years.

NOMINATION CRITERIA FOR THE MADRAC MEMBERS
1. The Malaysian Adverse Drug Reactions Advisory Committee (MADRAC) shall consist of the following members:
1.1 Three (3) members in their ex-officio capacity:
a) Director of the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) - Chairperson
b) Secretary of the Drug Control Authority (DCA)
c) Deputy Director, Centre for Compliance and Quality Control, NPRA - Secretary
1.2 Sixteen (16) members appointed by the Director General of Health.
2. Criteria for nominating the MADRAC members are as follows:
2.1 Consultant Specialists/ Senior Consultant Specialists/ Senior Pharmacists from the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia, nominated by the respective heads of services/ departments, as follow:
i. one (1) consultant physician
ii. one (1) consultant cardiologist
iii. one (1) consultant dermatologist
iv. one (1) consultant rheumatologist
v. one (1) consultant psychiatrist
vi. one (1) consultant nephrologist
vii. one (1) consultant pediatrician
viii. one (1) consultant oncologist
ix. one (1) public health specialist (vaccines)
x. one (1) pharmacist from the Pharmaceutical Services Programme
xi. one (1) pharmacist from a public health facility (hospital/ health clinic)
2.2 A pharmacist from a public institution of higher learning (university teaching hospital), nominated by the respective head of department.
2.3 Representative from professional bodies/ associations with relevant professional qualifications (doctor or pharmacist) and experience, and not serving in the Public Sector (or has retired from Public Service), as follow:
i. one (1) member of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA)
ii. one (1) member of the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS)
iii. one (1) member of the Federation of Private Medical Practitioner’s Association, Malaysia (FPMPAM)
iv. one (1) member of the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM)
2.4 Candidates for 2.1 and 2.2 must have at least two (2) years of service remaining with the MOH or relevant institution.
2.5 Candidates must not be among the members or alternate members of DCA.
3. Alternate members:
In respect of appointed members listed in para 2.0, an alternate member with similar qualifications as the substantive member and nominated through the same process can be appointed by the Director General of Health Malaysia.
4. All members of MADRAC are appointed by the Director General of Health for a term of 3 years, and are eligible for reappointment provided the stated criteria is fulfilled.
