R&D Collaboration or Data Request Procedure

Research data requests and research activities conducted in NPRA are coordinated by the Pharmaceutical Services Programme headquarters and must adhere to the Guideline for Conducting Research in the Pharmaceutical Services Programme, Ministry of Health Malaysia. Please refer to this guideline for complete information.

  

NPRA Collaboration or Data Request Procedure (For Research and Publications)

 Criteria: Data requested must not be confidential and must not involve identifiable patient information.

 

For formal research projects, academic studies, or case report write-ups, researchers must adhere to the standard procedure, as follows:

 

  1. NMRR Registration & Ethics: 

Register the research with the National Medical Research Register (NMRR) and obtain Ethical approval from the Medical Research and Ethics Committee (MREC). Note: Ethical approval from other committees is not accepted.

 

  1. For NPRA research collaboration requests:
    1. Complete the Collaboration Request Form (Borang D-FR-15/2).
    2. Submit with a cover letter addressed to the Director of the Pharmacy Policy and Strategic Planning Division (BDPSF), the full research proposal (including the names and institutions of all investigators and a Gantt chart), and a clearly stated role and responsibilities of requested co-investigator.
    3. Submission: Send the complete application package to the Director of BDPSF via email as stated in the form. 

 

  1. For NPRA data requests (including for interviews or focus group discussions):
    1. Complete the Data Request Form (Borang D-FR-14/2).
    2. Submit with a cover letter addressed to the Director of the Pharmacy Policy and Strategic Planning Division (BDPSF), the full research proposal (including the names and institutions of all investigators and a Gantt chart), the MREC approval letter, and a clearly stated list of the requested data variables.
    3. Submission: Send the complete application package to the Director of BDPSF via email as stated in the form.

 Please note: The entire procedure (from research registration to obtaining approval for collaboration or data requests) may take several months.
